Baseball:
During the 1920's, baseball became widely popular throughout the United States. Radios were now available and could be used to broadcast all across the nation. Newspapers decided to devote a whole section just for the sport. The baseball was now made of cork instead of being woven. This made a huge difference in game-play. Negro leagues were created in the beginning of 1920. These teams had some of the best talent ever in the sport. Some of the best players were Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, Grover Cleveland Alexander, George Sisler, Tris Speaker, and Pie Traynor.
Football:
The NFL, was known as the American Professional Football Association, began in downtown Canton, Ohio on September 17, 1920. Harold "Red" Grange had his first big moment when he became part of the NFL in 1925. With Red being apart of the NFL, it brought large crowds about to watching the game.
Boxing:
Glove boxing in the 1920's was lead by one of the best boxers during the era, Jack Dempsey. Boxing really took its toll towards the end of Dempsey's career. In September 23, 1926, Dempsey's fans took a great shock when he had his 1st defeat.
Tennis:
Bill Tilden and Helen Willis were 2 of the best tennis players during the 1920's. They played against very challenging teams and won frequently. They made tennis great the way they played it.
Golf:
Bobby Jones was born on March 17, 1902 in Atlanta Georgia. He was considered a super athlete when he entered his golfing career. He won the 1926 U.S. open and was the best player in the nation.
